 Counselors

The Pulaski County / Somerset Day Treatment Center provides comprehensive counseling services for the students who are enrolled in the program. The goals of the counseling program are to help students develop skills that will lead to success in school, family functioning and community involvement. Each student has specific individualized treatment goals that must be achieved prior to graduation from the program. To help students reach these goals, counselors provide each student with four group sessions and one individual session each week. Family therapy sessions may also be provided when needed to improve family functioning. Counseling sessions focus on a variety of topic. Those topics include drug education, conflict resolution, anger management, communication skills self-esteem enhancement, and law related education.

Upon completion of therapeutic goals and graduation from the program, students return to a regular school environment. Counselors at the Day Treatment Center help prepare the students for the transition by developing an after care plan for each student.
